Julee:

1. DOn’t worry about the patient specific templates
becoming saved templates. When you are seeing a
patient, it automatically gives you the choices of
generic templates OR patient specific templates for
that patient. You can probably see what I mean by
making two appts for a test patient and then try to
copy a template for the most recent visit since you
might not have more than 1 visit for a given pt on ecw
yet.

2. Do you have the port open on your network for
Windows remote? It is 3389.

Re: Remote Desktop…
The remote desktop utility uses a default port ( 3389) ...you will have to configure your router to open and forward that port to the host computer in your office… and then use the following command:
say if 68.68.68.9 is your static IP for your router ,,,
use the command 68.68.68.9:3389 in the remote desktop connect box…
I hope it helps…
if not let me know

Hi. Thanks to everyone who posts here.  Hope to be good enough soon
to help answer questions and offer site visits. We trained on ecw on
Oct 6-7-8 (I’m Julee, my husband is the doc (Kevin)).  We have not
gone live yet, but are customizing a lot of things and hope to start
soon.  I have read the first 1300 posts and the recent ones from the
last week. I have a comment and a two questions.

Comment On Training:  Our trainer, Jaimin, was very nice and a hard
worker.  However, he showed up to our office without a computer
projecter.  We had our whole staff (12 people) crowded around a PC
trying to watch what he was doing (and obviously all being paid for
it).  My husband (generally a very sweet man) was furious.  He spent
two hours trying to locate a projector (borrow, rent, buy, steal…)
and finally we had to buy one. He therefore had to miss some of the
training himself. He sent an e-mail immediately to ecw with his
complaint, but never received a response, except that they called
Jaimin and told him that the projectors were in use by the sales
people, and may or may not be available to Fedex overnight for day 2
and day 3.  We got the impression from Jaimin that if we wanted a
projector, we should have told them so.  When Kevin goes to see a
patient in the hospital to do a biopsy, he doesn’t expect the
patient to have suture in his pocket!!!  Kevin felt that it was so
important that the staff be able to see what Jaimin was teaching,
and not just hear it, that we put out $1,000 for a projector. After
we got through that mess, the training went well, and we really
enjoyed Jaimin.  Lesson Learned: Don’t take anything for granted!

Question:  I’ve been using Logmein.com to remotely connect to my pc
at work, and get on to ecw.  It has been pretty good. However, I
wanted to try Windows Remote Desktop to see if it was better.  I set
it up making my pc at work the host computer, and I tried to access
it from home.  It doesn’t work and the error message says that there
is no computer to access, and to try a different name.  I am using
the same computer name that Logmein.com connects to, so I dont’ get
the problem. Also, if I try to use another computer at work and log
into my work PC through Remote Desktop, it DOES work. Anyone know
anything about this???

BASIC question:  If I want to pull a note through for a follow-up
visit, i.e. “new note from old,” do I have to choose the old
encounter and save it as a template and them import from the
template list?  I’m sure that can’t be right, or the template list
would be unbearable soon.  Thanks.  Julee.
