Okay, yesterday I had an EMR session and learned about letters. It
looked like a piece of cake copying the file to the desktop and then
editing the file. I then save the edited letter. Whenever I go back
in to ecw to try and load the new letter onto the server, I get an
error message stating “an error occurred while trying to upload the
file to the server”. Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you able to view letters already in ecw ?
Have you installed Windows XP-SP2 lately ?

With the installation of Windows Service Pack 2 following changes
are required for ecw to work fine.

On the Workstations :

1. Click on Start >> Control Panel.
2. Depending on view

a. For Category view: Click on “Security
Center” >> then under “Manage Security Settings” click on “Windows
Firewall” link.
b. For Classic view: double click on “Windows
Firewall”.
3. In Firewall settings window click on “Exceptions” tab.
4. Make sure eClinicalWorks is checked.
5. If eClinicalWorks program is not listed
a. Click on “Add Program” button.
b. Click on “Browse” and select
eClinicalWorks.exe from “C:\program files\eClinicalWorks” (It may be
present in D: , check where the program is installed.)
6. For Letters/Scanned Docs (FTP) to work

a. Click on Add Port
b. Type
Name : “FTP”
Port : “21”

7. Hit OK

If you are able to view the exisiting letters, please try the
following and see if it helps. I think it is probably related to
duplicate document name .

1. Rename the new letter document you have created (example :
old.doc to newletter.doc) and try to upload with a different name
once again.

Thanks
