eCWs Automated calling service, does it leave messages on cellphones?

We’ve been noticing some appointments are coming back with a status of ‘FAILEDMSG’ in regards to the automated phone calling system. Does this happen because the number is invalid or can this happen due to a voicemail box being full? There’s no reason that it wouldn’t be able to leave messages on a cellphone voicemail is there? I ask this because we have a number of patients who use their cellphone as their ‘home number’ and it is my understanding that the automated service uses the ‘home number’. Is anyone familiar with how this works?

We have noted that structured data fields can be created in the referral form. We have created some standard data fields but they are not showing up in the faxed referral. Has anyone else had this problem or is anyone else using structured data in referrals?

Combining duplicate patient accounts?

I KNOW there is a way to combine duplicate accounts for the same patient. If a duplicate account is created in error for a patient, and there is already an account for the same patient in the system, how do you combine these accounts if both are active. Deleting one of the accounts is not an option as there are encounters in both accounts. Any help??

What are you doing to make the 1st visit At Check-In of 2012 more efficient?

As you know, there is no way for our patients to update their insurance info on the portal. Every year we have to take a fresh copy of the insurance card, make changes if needed, confirm the address, phone, pharmacy, etc. And also saving a tree… (by not printing several patients for the patient to sign). Are any of you doing anything to make this Check-In process more efficient?

For 2011 we asked the patients to contact us in advance if they were interested in having an efficient check-in process. Only a 275 patients took us up on our offer. Utilizing IE has helped this process too. We know who will have new insurance, etc.

thanks for your time.

How Can I Toggle Between Schedule and Other Functions in eCW?

Greetings!

We’re newly live on eCW and I don’t mean to sound obtuse, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to toggle between the schedule and any other function so that if a patient calls to schedule I don’t have to exit whatever I’m doing in order to assist them. Short of actually opening up a second window of the application in Citrix or whatnot, I just am not seeing it!

Any ideas/help/commiseration? Thank you!!

Cheers, Jody

Suggestions for mailing/street address when an address is for example 1234 1/2 Anywhere Lane

Hello,

We have come across an issue where some street addresses here in michigan are for example 1234 1/2 Anywhere Lane. Since we cannot use special characters in the address fields, I am not sure how to best go about this. My thoughts are to spell out… and a half, but question if this will cause issues with the postal service.

Has anyone out there come across this, and/or have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Ann
