Best way to pre-populate PE template

I probably need a good refresher as to how the best way is to pre-populate my PE encounters, but currently it just seems that it takes too many clicks.

My routine is usually to “merge” a template with the ROS/Exam options checked off with the typical normals filled in - however, the remainder Medication, Allergies, PMH/PSurgH, etc. I have to typically click each section to bring forth the previous notes information. I can also do this via the R-sided “Overview” and “History” tabs with the blue arrow buttons, but this still takes numerous clicks.

Is there a better way to set-up my templates so that with “one click” I get my new ROS/Exam normals but auto pull every other section forward?

Copying templates

We are a large hospital with numerous practices using eClinicalworks. We have been given permission by one physician for another physician in a different practice to use his templates. Is there a way to copy these templates from one database to another?

Is there a way to modify an existing order set, save it - but also save the original order set?
I’m trying to modify one of my order sets for another physician to use (but tweaked for them) - but not loose my original.

Easy way to load a Flu Shot template?

During flu shot season, which is now upon us, I always bemoan the fact that ECW, unless someone else knows otherwise, does not allow you put immunizations as part of the template process, so when I pre-populate my flu-shot clinic days, I have to do two sets of clicks - one for the template which takes care of the diagnosis code, CPT, immunization/administration; then I have to separately enter the influenza vaccine.

Has any one else found a better way to do this? (i.e. faster?)

I’ve spent some time looking at old posts on this topic, but I’m hoping someone can give me the final word on how to add immunizations to templates.

This is a family practice, so they would like specific shots to come in on only some of their templates. What’s the trick? We either get them on all or random visits, or none at all.

I just started using ECW 2 weeks ago. The system is great and we love it so far, but at the same time I can’t believe that they have such a small number of low quality Templates and order sheets. ECW is very popular now. They just need to hire decent physician for a month or so and have the all the Templates done and upload to all the users, who are interested in it. if they want to sell it for extra price , I don’t mind paying that either. But they must offer much more pre built Templates and order sheets for sure.

Podiatry Templates

I have a potential Podiatry group deciding if they will use eCW or another program. One of the providers feels that eCW does not come with very much Podiatry specific information in the progress note and feels the required template building would be enormous. I would love to share the thoughts of a Podiatrists who is currently using eCW on this topic. Any takers?
