We are officially 6 weeks into our new LabCorp OG interface and it’s been 6 weeks of disaster. We did not have doxy label printers previously, we just printed the labs and reqs on an 8 1/2x11 sheet of paper thru an HP printer. Well now we finally got the labels to print out correctly (yes they are network connected and not direct connected) but now our reqs are a disaster. When the MA’s try to print the reqs after printing the labels the reqs are printing 1” strips on 4-5 pages, however if they print to a different printers lets say at the front…they print correctly. Has anyone else experienced this? eCW keeps getting on the database, changing item keys which breaks something else, then back again….no luck.

Does anyone else have an issue with the interface ordering labs that are not suppose to be ordered? We use Quest labs. Example: We will order a straight RPR w/ reflex to titer and the order gets changed to RPR w/ reflex to titer and confirmatory test. I don’t need a confirmatory test because the patient has a previous history of syphilis. Why is it ordering extra labs? It will say: “eclinicalworks, support 08/26/2020 04:00:06 : This order was created by the Interface.” How can I stop this from happening?

For those who are hosted in Atlanta and with lab interfaces are you experiencing any outages with orders and results? Our lab interface has been down since Monday night.

eCW applied platform maintenance(patch) Monday night which in turn broke SFTP connectivity somewhere in eCW data center, Tuesday nights patch to fix Monday’s buggy maintenance patch went nowhere. Just curious if this issue is affecting others, and if so what have you been told.

I am not a lab person (and barely an interface person) but we are having issues with all the different, and undocumented, settings for the interfaces and getting what we really need/want. We have been having a long standing issue on one interface (we will call it interface A) where the sensitivity type results are overwritten by the final result, just poof gone. We have opened many tickets and never got a clear answer on why this was happening or what our options were.

We just got a new machine in the lab(s) (we have an inpatient and outpatient internal labs) and now the CBC results are duplicating on interface B and are fine on A. Both result HL7 are exactly the same but both are sent twice. ECW finally tells us interface B is set to append the results whenever a new result is sent, hence the duplication and NOT losing the sensitivity results and interface A is set to overwrite them!!! These should really both be the same but no matter which one we match we lose something.

Long story not so short, does anyone know how they are set and are you able to get a duplicate or otherwise “updated” HL7 and not see duplication in the system while at the same time retaining your sensitivity and other pending results? Any idea how that works?

We are looking to buy an ultrasound machine for thyroid ultrasounds and for needle guided thyroid biopsies. We want to have an interface with eCW, but different machines have different ways of connecting and varying costs. Does anyone have an ultrasound machine they were able to integrate with eCW and how has it been working? One model we were thinking of is the Mindray Z6, but we need to figure out if it will integrate with eCW easily or not.

We have a bi-directional interface between eCW and Orchard. When we order a ‘Rapid Screen Strep A’ inside eCW a CPT code drops into the progress note automatically. The question is when the result is negative our LIS Orchard will automatically creates a new lab order for a ‘Throat Culture’. In this scenario both results populate the progress note, but a CPT code will not drop for the ‘Throat Culture”. For those who have lab interfaces have you been able to get a CPT to drop in this scenario?

Right now our workaround, is when the rapid screen is negative, lab staff goes back into eCW and orders a throat culture so that a CPT code will drop.
