We are migrating our Windows Server to 2022 (2025 is not approved yet…). However, what I thought would be a simple setup is taking much longer. We created instances with the basics setup in mid Nov and created a project with eCW. They scheduled it as follows: verification -> exceptions review (if any) -> server install. This process separately occurs to fax servers. Since they don’t provide a requirements list, there’s ALWAYS an exceptions review and its for the simple things like set static ip. What should have taken half a month is taking 3 months and they are charging for the delays (exception reviews)...

Is this normal?

Our org switched to ECW in the past year and I worked with their team to get Azure SAML SSO for our cloud instance. What they have not been able to do is allow Seamless Single Sign On, which uses the logged in user’s Windows session credentials to pass into ECW for authentication. With Seamless SSO, our users would just have to use their 2FA token code and not have to completely type out their login and password, every single time they move between stations treating.

Why this isn’t working is because ECW is sending the ForceAuthn=True command in the SAML request, which forces a full logon every time. Some of our users log onto 10 different workstations in a day, it gets annoying very quickly.

ECW said they cannot remove that command because it breaks the e-prescribe portion of the software. We were told months ago it would be fixed by end of Q1. We’re hoping that is the case and not just an excuse.

Has anyone else experience trouble from ECW getting Seamless SSO to work? If so, are you using a SAML based method or AD FS?

Thanks in advance.

I have reached out to our SAM for info about SSO, but only received the documentation for setting it up through ADFS.

ADFS is primarily affecting our providers eClinicalMobile login and they are very unhappy. Now with an eClinicalMobile 30 minute activity timeout they are losing even more scribe notes and photos. No solution after 3 months of meetings and conversations with our SAM and even eCW leadership.

This is one of the posts I want eCW management to see and act on (I have also shared this with my SAM). DYMO 550 Label models are awful, networking broken and learned from DYMO support the RFID tags in the label rolls and in the printers themselves are defective and can get damaged during shipping. Literally about 30% of the label printers we order are defective and we have to send back.

DYMO 450’s were great workhorses and did not have the restrictive RFID technology, DYMO 550’s have been terrible to support.

Labels are very important for hospitals and clinics.

Please ditch DYMO and partner up and work with labels built for enterprise like Zebra labels. Asking for reliable labels and networking is not a big ask.

Zebra is a technology focused company. DYMO is a consumer company that probably shares office resources from Yankee Candle, Crock-pot and Rubbermaid

We have some questions regarding the recommendation from eClinicalWorks to enable Read Committed Snapshot Isolation (RCSI) on our SQL Server database.

Proven Performance Gains:
We’d like to confirm whether other eCW clients have implemented RCSI and, if so, whether they’ve experienced measurable performance improvements—particularly in environments that were previously experiencing performance issues.

Impact on tempdb and Storage Considerations:
Since RCSI relies on versioning in tempdb, we’re aware that enabling it could significantly increase tempdb usage. To avoid the risk of system instability or unresponsiveness, we would need to provision additional disk space. Before we proceed with that investment, we want to ensure the performance benefits are well-established.

Application Compatibility:
Lastly, we’d like to confirm whether the eClinicalWorks application is fully compatible with and designed to take advantage of RCSI. Our understanding is that while RCSI operates transparently for most READ COMMITTED operations, some applications may rely on traditional locking behavior. We want to ensure that enabling RCSI won’t interfere with any eCW functionality.

If anyone has info on this that would be incredibly helpful, we are self-hosted and experiencing performance issues due to an upgrade and this was one of the recommendtations.

I am seeking some input from ECW users community. Recently came across software that will speed up transmission of hospital charges and asked ECW to build interface. The company has already built interfaces with other ECW practices.I was informed that the project will cost us $7000( to ECW) along with monthly maintenance fees (also to ECW).
I have used this software since Aug 2007 and have done multiple interface projects (labs,LIS,EKG,software ) over the years all of which cost between $1k to $2k. the expense is high and will be in addition to monthly payments to software company as well. Are these fees in the ballpark for other clinics?Self hosted server. Thanks in advance.
