We have been using ecw for almost 2 years, our experience with ecw support has been very good overall. Most techs are knowledegable, considerate and polite. But with the rapid expanding of ecw, we notice some weakening of ecw support. In Feb, the support worked on my server to install cdss ( we are part of NYC PCIP project) at our busiest office hour without notifing us first. We started noticing system slowing down and unstable while we were working, it finally crashed ecw the next morning , we lost 2 hours of ecw during the moring rush before ecw fixed it. Our most recent experience for installing the TSP800 was a nightmare, the technician was inexperienced ( had NEVER done this before, had no idea what she was doing), incompetent ( can not do a modification on XML file for the whold day which was fixed by her senior in 2 minutes) and arrogant (blame us for her mistake), we lost ability for printing prescription for 4 days, the I don’t know how ecw rate their support team members, hopefully not by how many tickets were closed by them. I would suggest that ecw email a customer survey at the end of the each support ticket, so we can give high marks for those who are excellent and really deserve a raise/promotion, and give back our criticism for those who are not. I also suggest ecw to improve how they assign the ticket, assign the ticket to somebody who had absolutely no experince to work on the issue is inviting trouble, not only it causes stress on the provider, it also generate much more burder on the support team to correct the mistake. I am not a IT expert, but my experience with computer tells me that getting it right in the first place is much better/easier than trouble shooting it.

I have noticed very slow connections to vnc14.eclinicalworks.com
When I ran the IP I found it to be 122.182.8.148
Which translates to Chennai in India.
I knew about the Mumbai center buit not about Chennai

With the current economic situation I can understand eCW having their support located at various locations in India but would suggest that they consider better connection speeds

HDM Breaking News, August 30, 2010

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has named the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology and the Drummond Group Inc. as the initial Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies for the temporary electronic health records certification program.

Applications for several other unidentified companies that hope to be named testing and certification bodies remain under review.

CCHIT and Drummond Group have long made public their wish to be testing and certification entities, and their selection as the initial entities is not a surprise. Chicago-based CCHIT has been the industry-created EHR certifier for several years under programs now superseded by temporary and permanent certification programs authorized under the HITECH Act.

Austin, Texas-based Drummond operates a test laboratory offering interoperability/conformance testing and certification for multiple industries. The company announced last November it would apply to be an EHR tester and certifier after being approached by several EHR vendors.

EHRs currently certified under previous CCHIT programs must be recertified as supporting electronic health records meaningful use criteria by an Authorized Testing and Certification Body under the temporary certification program that lasts until at least Jan. 1, 2012. Providers must use EHR products that have the new certifications as part of the process to qualify for Medicare and Medicaid meaningful use incentive payments.

Vendors now can apply to CCHIT and Drummond Group to go through the testing and certification process. More information is available at cchit.org and drummondgroup.com.

hello all,

For those of you who may not remember , in Dec of 2008, Emdeon software update “dropped “ the decimal point , creating a lot of billing havoc. They admitted to it , but did not offer any help , other than resubmit.
On to Blunder 2.
I just noticed that all my billing going through Emdeon , although got a confirm sent by ECW, was not received by Emdeon , between the dates of June 1-14/2010. So the insurance did not get it either , and I am already at the 3 month billing deadline for timely submition.
I would suggest to check it out.
