Are any of you using your eCW EMR as a place to store patient medical information for patients that you do not provide medical treat for, but just want to document and track their case history?

We are a local government in New York State tasked with onsite home visits to patients collecting patient information about Lead poisoning cases (esp. children) for other government health organizations. We ask questions about patient environmentals, family history, document lab work etc. We would be using functions in eCW to report on patient progress, and then when report on number of cases, etc.

Are any of you using your eCWs in this way? If so, are there ANY downsides, legally miss use of an EMR?
Can you use your EMR in this way even though you are not providing medical treatment?

Thanks

We have been happy customers with eCW since 2017, and I’ve implemented them with other groups I’ve consulted with going back prior that. However, I am having extreme difficulty with the way our account is being handled since notifying them 5 months prior to contract term and the period extending beyond that date. I am attempting to exhaust all resources prior to taking next steps. If anyone is open to having a conversation regarding how they maneuvered this period, I would welcome that conversation.
We mapped our Blood Pressure vitals to CPT II codes to assist with capturing the HEDIS measures. (New feature in V12.0.30

The CPT II codes drop on the progress note billing section based on the Blood Pressure Range. This works great, but the CPT codes are not linked to an ICD so unless the provider manually adds the ICD to the CPT II code, the claim fails with errors. And there are two CPT II codes per Vital (Systolic and Diastolic). Two extra clicks, or more if the ICD needs to be added as well. Not helpful

Linking an ICD to the CPT II in the ICD configuration does not work as it does not pull in the ICD and link it to the CPT in the billing section when the CPT Code II drops from the BP Vitals configuration. And worse if you add the linked ICD to the assessment section, it drops the linked CPT II code, basically adding twice (once from the assessment and once from the vitals configuration).

eCW made it seamless to drop CPT II codes based on Vitals ranges without additional provider interaction but missed the step where any CPT code has to be linked to an ICD for the claim to process (unless the provider interacts by adding ICDs to the two CPT II codes that dropped. -Save one step, add two or more…

I am sharing what I hope is useful cost effective information to users interested in knowing their options for dictating in ECW.

1) the old way - I used an outdated Dragon alone (pre Dragon One) with limited licenses so cna only do in my office desktop and my home desktop. No other devices.
2 ) then in in order to get Sunoh, I subscribed to Scribe which allows some dictation. However Scribe does not let you dictate into Telephone encounters and web encounters.
3) new ? - I just completed a chat and discovered the product activation for Speech to Text ($0.03/minutes). This is clean, can dictate into anywhere per the chat support and does not require Scribe nor Dragon One subscription and can also dictate into Telephone encounters. And you can dictate into any number of computers (no license restrictions like older dragon)
4) there is also a product Speech Recognition Mobile Solution for eclinicalmobile and eclinicaltouch.

A few options that I hope helps. What method of dictation do you find more helpful

Hello,

Seems like insurances are soon going to mandate extended BMI percentiles reporting. So basically BMI has to be reported as “Percent of the 95th Percentile”. e.g a 200 lb, 5 ft tall, 10 year old will be reported as
“176% Percent of the 95th Percentile”
ECW has not been helpful with my questions regarding this update vital sign.
Does any know if ECW can calculate this number for us and populate it in the vitals instead of just the BMI percentile.
CDC has already approved the use and encourages it.

Is it just me or does ECW really lack in the ability to present clinical data visually/ graphically. If I want to show a persons health trends over time, it is virtually impossible. The so called graph feature should be scrapped. I am now reviewing labs with patients directly from the labcorp and quest website which patients can see and understand better. I can’t even use the weight trends feature since it’s limited to 1 year, and visualization and screen space used is very 1980s graphic presentation. We have to move away from this text based apporach and improve the GUI experience. I hope data visualization and presentation is an area that ECW plans on improving since I’m already having to move off the platform to review labs.

Hi All,

I am trying to rearrange questionnaires and having a very difficult time using the drag and drop method. It does not always work and I am not sure if there are any tips people have with this functionality. For example, we often add questions so I need to move to the proper spot. Sometimes, it seems like I should just recreate them from scratch to avoid the rearranging nightmare.

I have an open ticket with support and I have contact support in the past, but they’re just basically clicking and dragging to no end.
